These are the spots where a tall bookcase won't fit and a console table is too short.

This low bookcase was made from solid wood in the late 20th century, following the pattern of classic English furniture: a molded cornice at the top, a molded plinth at the bottom, and side panels with recessed detailing. No veneered board here. Thirty kilograms for a piece of furniture just over a meter long.

The front is completely open: two shelves, three heights. The back is made of exposed vertical planks, not a thin panel nailed from behind. The wood retains its grain under a satin finish with a mahogany tone, with the subtle sheen that comes from use, not from the factory.

It measures 102 cm wide, 41 cm deep, and 110 cm high. The perfect depth for books and objects; the height of a countertop. There's room on top for a lamp, a large mirror, or nothing at all.

No two are alike. There will be no restocking.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The cornice. It's a multi-tiered molding, not a rounded edge. It's what transforms a shelf into a piece of furniture: it finishes the top and closes the line against the wall.

→ The back. In mass-produced furniture, the back is a three-millimeter sheet that sounds hollow. Here, it's vertically mounted, exposed wooden planks.

→ The 110 cm height. It's an unusual measurement: below the sill of a standard window and above a sideboard. The gap that almost no one manufactures, and that almost every home has.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

It arrived with a sound structure and a finish dulled by years of dust and friction. The assembly of the sides and shelves was checked, supports were adjusted where there was play, and the entire visible surface, including cornice and plinth moldings, was hand-sanded, respecting the original profile.

The structure is firm, and the shelves are level. The finish is uniform on all four sides and retains the warm tone of the wood. It arrives ready to take its place.
