This antique bronze cup is a true gem of high decoration, embodying the splendor of the early 19th-century Empire style. Inspired by the kraters of classical antiquity, it features a solid bronze body with a deep, rich, dark patina. From this understated base, gilt bronze appliqués burst forth in exuberant luxury: opulent garlands of flowers and fruit cascade down, while two zoomorphic handles emerge from expressive lion masks. It rests on a square base of pure white marble, which adds light and a sublime contrast. It is a testament to the artisanal virtuosity of its era.
