There are things you look for and don't find. And there are things that appear together and it no longer makes sense to separate them.

This pair of bedside tables is among the latter.

Two mid-20th century solid wood bedside tables, restored and painted in our workshop with a combination that few get right the first time: celadon grayish blue on the body, legs, and top, with the edges, carvings, and pulls in cream/ivory. A bichrome that makes every detail clearly legible — the turned legs, the central volute appliqué on the drawer, the openwork acanthus leaves on the sides — without the need to overdo anything.

Each bedside table has one drawer. A well-proportioned drawer that slides smoothly, with a visible wood interior. Enough for what a bedside table needs to hold.

At 49.6 cm wide, 34.3 cm deep, and 55 cm high, they are perfectly proportioned bedside tables for a standard bed. They don't invade the space; they don't get lost in it. They are sold as a pair — both together, symmetrical, ready to flank a bed.

No two pairs are alike. There will be no replenishment.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PAIR ──

→ The celadon and cream bichrome: it's not the usual off-white. Celadon blue is a color with its own personality — cool but not cold, light but with character — and the cream of the carvings warms it up just where needed. The result is a bedside table that goes with linen, terracotta, pure white, and gray.

→ The cream carvings on a blue background: the central volute appliqué and the openwork acanthus leaves on the sides of the drawer are read with a precision that a uniform color would have blurred. Here, the bichrome works in favor of the form.

→ The turned legs: four legs with a baluster profile, painted in the same celadon blue as the body. They give the bedside table that visual lightness that solid drawer bedside tables never have.

Both bedside tables have been structurally checked, treated against woodworm, hand-sanded, and painted with a celadon grayish-blue and cream finish. The drawers slide correctly. The finish is matte with a slightly aged effect that respects the character of the piece.
