DESCRIPTION

The dining room is the only room in the house designed for sitting face to face. And yet, it is usually furnished with only the table in mind.

This set of four dining chairs follows the English Regency pattern: a crescent-shaped cane mesh back, a rolled top rail, and an intricate carving of interwoven ribbons in the wood itself. Chairs designed for the formal table, restored and painted black in our workshop.

The cane mesh is hand-woven, with that honey tone that contrasts with the black of the frame. Above it, a carved fan crowns the backrest. Below it, a lattice of ribbons carved into the wood: the kind of work that no factory mass-produces today.

Each chair measures 49 cm wide, 45 cm deep, and 97 cm high, with a sand-colored linen upholstered seat. Four units that will furnish a dining room, an office with character, or a spacious work table.

No two are alike. There will be no replenishment.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The hand-woven crescent-shaped cane mesh, topped with a carved wooden fan. This detail places these chairs in the tradition of English Regency, and it's something not replicated in a modern production chair.

→ The contrast of materials: the black of the frame, the sand linen of the seat, and the honey tone of the natural cane. Three textures that coexist without competing.

→ The complete set. Four identical chairs, yet with the subtle variations of handmade craftsmanship. The foundation to furnish a table without looking like it came straight out of a catalog.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

All four chairs were inspected one by one: the frame joints and backrests were reinforced, the cane mesh attachment was checked, and the wood was sanded before applying the finish. The black finish was applied by hand in our workshop, 30 minutes from Madrid.

Today, the structures are firm, the mesh is taut, and the upholstery is new linen. Four stable chairs, ready for daily use. They arrive ready to take their place.

A piece selected and restored by Antique Arte y Decoración — specializing since 2015 in antique furniture, with its own workshop in Navalcarnero and over 3,500 satisfied families throughout Spain.

Preguntas frecuentes
