You walk into a room and, without quite knowing why, something calms you. It’s not the bed. It’s not the curtains. It’s almost always that piece of furniture with soft, white lines that brings order to everything around it without asking permission.

This vintage chest of drawers is a mid-20th-century piece, in the French Provençal style—the same language as Louis XV—recognizable by its serpentine front, turned legs, and the flower basket appliques that adorn the central drawers. Three spacious drawers that, behind a curved front of nine modules, hide all their capacity.

The movement of the wood is the first thing that catches the eye: the front is not flat, it undulates. This curve, impossible to mass-produce, is what gives shadow and depth to the piece. Above, an off-white hand-painted in our workshop, warm, far from the cold, plastic white of catalog dressers. The raised floral appliques are not stickers: they are carved and are part of the front itself.

It measures 123 cm wide, 90 cm high, and 49.5 cm deep: the ideal height to top it with a mirror and a couple of objects, and just the right capacity for a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway that deserves a memorable first impression.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The curve. It’s a bombé, undulating front that no factory-made dresser can replicate because it makes production more expensive and complicated. Here, it is the soul of the piece: it gives relief, shadow, and movement where a flat board is the norm.

→ The carved details. The flower baskets that adorn the central drawers are sculpted in relief, not applied with decals. It’s the kind of detail that distinguishes a skilled piece of furniture from a mass-produced one.

→ The off-white. Applied and shaded by hand in our workshop, with that warmth that combines with natural wood, golds, or linen. Nothing like the plain serial white.

In the workshop, we inspect the entire structure, ensure that the three drawers slide and fit well, hand-sand each front, and apply the off-white finish, customizing the tone and shading it to highlight the moldings and reliefs.

The drawers run smoothly, the interior wood is well-preserved, and the exterior finish is stable and uniform. It arrives ready to move into your home and start organizing.
