Unique piece, no restocking

There are pieces that you don't choose: you recognize them. This French Louis Philippe buffet has been silently telling a story of bourgeois dining rooms, long after-dinner conversations, and hands that opened its doors again and again for nearly two centuries. Today, it arrives stripped and bleached to the natural tone of walnut, with the grain as the protagonist and a serenity that only furniture that has survived time without losing its character can provide.

DESCRIPTION

The first thing that stands out is the hinged top, an unusual detail that adds a functional and almost secret dimension to the piece: a large-format compartment that lifts on original wrought iron hinges, ideal for storing tablecloths, dinnerware, or any item that deserves a discreet place. Below it, two doors with framed panels open to a spacious interior with a fixed shelf, adorned with neoclassical-inspired gilded bronze keyholes.

The prominence of walnut

The chosen wood—solid French walnut—exhibits dramatically book-matched grain: symmetrical patterns on each door that seem hand-painted and that no industrially produced furniture will ever be able to reproduce. Professional stripping has restored the walnut to its original honey tone, removing varnishes darkened over decades and leaving the bare, matte, tactile fiber. A surface that begs to be touched.

One piece, many lives

Due to its contained proportions and reduced depth—barely 42 cm deep—this buffet naturally fits into spaces where other antique furniture would be intrusive: a narrow hallway, a modern dining room wall, a bedroom where it can replace a traditional dresser, a designer's studio. It functions as a sideboard in eclectic dining rooms, as a bar cabinet in contemporary living rooms, as an anchor piece in Vincenzo De Cotiis or Axel Vervoordt-style interiors where material matters more than style.

Preguntas frecuentes
