DESCRIPTION

There are rooms that function and rooms that breathe. The difference, many times, lies in a single piece: the one that organizes everything else without asking permission.

This single-door wardrobe was made of cherry wood in the French Louis XV style, with its curved lines and rustic elegance: carved arched panels, a shaped skirt, and cabriole legs ending in a scroll foot.

The cherry wood has taken on a warm honey tone, with grain and small knots that tell of its origins. The lock has a hand-forged iron escutcheon. And upon opening, a surprise: the interior is painted in sage green, with four shelves that multiply its capacity.

A solid cherry wood wardrobe with carved panels like this does not come off an assembly line. It measures 188 cm to the top and 102 cm wide, with a body of 90 cm. It fits well in a bedroom, a spacious hallway, or a dressing room, and solves storage problems without sacrificing presence. It's advisable to measure beforehand: a piece like this deserves its exact spot.

No two are alike. There will be no replenishment.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The contrast between the natural cherry on the outside and the sage green of the interior. It's a detail that isn't seen until the door is opened, and it completely changes the character of the piece.

→ The honey tone that the cherry has acquired over the years, with its visible knots and grain. It's not a factory finish: it's solid wood that has lived.

→ The carved arched panels and the hand-forged iron escutcheon. The four interior shelves do the rest: clothes, linens, tableware, or books find their place.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

We thoroughly worked on it in our workshop, 30 minutes from Madrid. We checked the structure, reinforced the joints, hand-sanded the surface, and painted the interior in sage green to create contrast with the cherry.

The structure is firm, the door closes with its original forged iron hardware, and the shelves hold up without yielding. It arrives ready to take its place.

A piece selected and restored by Antique Arte y Decoración — specializing since 2015 in antique furniture, with its own workshop in Navalcarnero and more than 3,500 families throughout Spain.
