A house may have a lot of furniture. But few have their own place for thinking, writing, and making decisions. An Empire-style executive desk doesn't just furnish a room: it presides over it.

This executive desk was built in the mid-20th century following the canons of the French Empire style. Double pedestal, solemn proportions, and ornamentation that turned every office into a statement of intent. The person who made it didn't just manufacture furniture. They manufactured respect.

The burr veneer wraps the entire piece with a honey-toned grain that no printed laminate can imitate. Above it, bronze caryatids, palmettes, and laurel wreaths. Semicolumns of veined black marble flank the pedestals. And a top with three green leather panels that define the writing space as was done before: with discernment.

Measuring 179 cm wide, 88 cm deep, and 82 cm high, it presides over an office, a library, or that area of the living room where you've decided good work gets done. The back is finished with the same ornamentation as the front, so it can be placed freestanding, in the center of the room, just as it was conceived. The leg space—67 cm wide by 65 cm high—comfortably accommodates any modern office chair.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ That it is finished on all four sides. The back has the same bronzes and panels as the front, something reserved for desks designed to preside over a room, not to be pushed against a wall.

→ The coexistence of three noble materials—burr, bronze, and black marble—worked simultaneously on the same piece. This combination is no longer mass-produced: it would be unfeasible for any current factory.

→ The patina of the honey-toned varnish, which half a century of use has deepened and which no new finish can reproduce. It's the difference between looking old and being old.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

In our workshop, we inspected the entire structure, adjusted the guides for the three drawers and the closure of the doors on both pedestals, and secured each bronze appliqué one by one. The burr veneer was cleaned and nourished by hand to restore the depth of its grain, respecting the original varnish and patina.

The piece is in excellent condition, with slight marks of use typical of its age that are part of its history. Firm structure, smooth drawers, aligned doors. It arrives ready to take its place.
