DESCRIPTION

Almost everything we own lives tucked away in drawers. And yet, the few things that truly matter to us demand the opposite: a place where we can admire them every day.

This Louis XV style display cabinet has a single door, with glass on the front and sides, mounted on cabriole legs. We have restored it and finished it in light blue distressed with golden details in our workshop.

The crest is crowned with a rocaille carving, that asymmetrical shell that defines rococo. The cornice features an engraved frieze and the corners have golden applications that contrast with the blue. Inside, two glass shelves let light pass from side to side, so that what you place seems to float. The handcrafted distressed finish allows the wood to show through beneath the color: that slight wear is what separates a piece with soul from a furniture item fresh out of the factory.

It is narrow and tall —63 cm wide, 33.5 cm deep and 188 cm high—, so it fits where a large piece of furniture would not: an entryway, a gap between two doors, the corner of a living room or a bedroom. It takes up little floor space and draws much attention.

No two are alike. There will be no restocking.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The light blue distressed finish. A serene color, handcrafted in the workshop, that softens the dramatic flair of the Louis XV style and makes it easy to live with. With its touches of gold, it looks elegant without being overdone.

→ The light entering from three sides. Being glazed on the sides as well, the display cabinet illuminates itself: what you display is visible from almost any angle, without shadows.

→ The rocaille carving on the crest. A hand-carved asymmetrical shell that tops the piece and gives it that French salon furniture feel. It is the detail that attracts the most attention.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

We checked the structure, adjusted the door and its hinges, inspected the glass and shelves, and touched up the golden applications. Then we hand-sanded and applied the light blue distressed finish, a color chosen and worked on in our workshop to highlight the carving.

The door closes well, the shelves sit firmly, and the whole piece stands stable on its legs. It arrives ready to take its place.

A piece selected and restored by Antique Arte y Decoración — specializing since 2015 in antique furniture, with its own workshop in Navalcarnero and serving over 3,500 families across Spain.

Frequently asked questions

Is it an original piece or a reproduction?

It is a Louis XV style display cabinet, made of carved wood and glass, restored and finished in distressed light blue with gilded details in our workshop. The rocaille carving on the cresting and moldings are handmade.

What restoration work has been done?

We checked the structure, adjusted the door and hinges, inspected the glass and shelves, and refreshed the gilded applications. Then we hand-sanded it and applied the distressed light blue finish in our specialized workshop in Navalcarnero.

Where does this display cabinet fit best in the house?

Due to its dimensions —63 cm wide, 33.5 cm deep, and 188 cm high— it fits where a large piece of furniture cannot: an entryway, a space between doors, the corner of a living room, or a bedroom. The glass shelves and glazed sides enhance whatever you display.

How is the shipping of a glazed piece handled?

Shipping is free throughout mainland Spain, with delivery inside the home and removal of packaging. The display cabinet travels carefully packed and protected due to its glazing, by companies specialized in valuable items.
