DESCRIPTION

There are corners in a home that only need one well-chosen piece.

This side table is that piece.

It was manufactured in the mid-20th century, adhering to the canons of French Louis XV with a fidelity that few reproductions of the era achieved. The structure is hand-carved and gilded wood — the frieze features a sculpted braid with oval and pearl motifs, the legs are cabriole with vertical fluting, and the lower stretcher connects the four legs with a turned central finial.

The top is natural green marble. That grayish-green with dark veins that no newly quarried marble possesses. It has the thickness and weight of the stone used when things were made to last.

57 centimeters wide. 77 centimeters high. The exact size to flank a sofa, illuminate a reading nook, or make any room feel different.

No two are alike. There will be no restock.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The green marble: its hue has no exact name in any current catalog. It changes with the light — sometimes forest, sometimes mineral, sometimes almost black. No one else has one like it.

→ The gilding of the structure: the cabriole legs and the carved frieze have that warm tone that new gold takes decades to achieve. The patina is already there.

→ The proportions: 77 centimeters high is exactly what a side table accompanying a sofa or armchair needs. Not too low, not too high. Just the right measure.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, 30 MINUTES FROM MADRID ──

We have checked the entire structure, reinforced the leg joints, and cleaned the marble while preserving its natural patina. The gilding is consolidated and uniform.

The structure is firm. The marble, intact. It arrives ready to take its place.

A piece selected and restored by Antique Arte y Decoración — specializing since 2015 in antique furniture, with its own workshop in Navalcarnero and over 3,500 families throughout Spain.

Preguntas frecuentes
