There's a difference between a wall with something hung on it and a wall that truly supports a room. The latter almost always has a mirror in the right place.

This vintage mirror features a classic aesthetic gilded wooden frame, from the second half of the 20th century. The gilding was handcrafted on the wood, with an outer twisted cord band and an inner garland of embossed motifs — the decorative language of neoclassical-inspired mirrors.

The glass is beveled: the edge is angled, so that when light passes through it, it draws a thin line of brilliance around the entire reflection. This is a detail that today's flat glass rarely includes, and which completely changes the depth of the image. The gilding retains the warm patina that years provide, not the flat shine of an imitation.

At 100 cm wide and 85.8 cm high, it has enough presence to preside over a hall, expand a living room, or crown a dresser in the bedroom. You can hang it horizontally, as in the photo, or vertically: it works both ways.

── WHAT WE LOVE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The beveled glass. That angled recess around the perimeter is not added decoration: it is a glasswork that gives depth to the reflection and catches the light at the edges. Most current mirrors use flat, unbeveled glass.

→ The aged gilding. The warm tone of the gold, with its small variations, is given by time and use. A new gilding shines evenly and coldly; this one has the depth that only comes from having passed through a few homes.

→ The dual orientation. Due to its proportions, it works both horizontally and vertically, making it easy to place on almost any wall without looking forced.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

In the workshop, we reviewed the frame's structure, reinforced the corner joints, and touched up the gilding by hand where time had worn it down, respecting the original tone. We cleaned the beveled glass and checked its attachment to the frame.

The frame is firm, the gilding stable, and the mirror ready to hang. It arrives ready to take its place.
