DESCRIPTION

There are paintings that decorate.

And there are paintings that transform the room that receives them.

This is one of the latter.

It was painted in the mid-20th century, following the great tradition of Flemish floral still life — the same tradition that Jan van Huysum and Rachel Ruysch brought to its peak in the 17th century. Oil on canvas. A bouquet of roses, tulips, peonies, and wildflowers emerging from a dark vase on a marble ledge. Peaches at its foot. Warm, deep background. The artist's signature in the bottom corner.

The frame is as important as the painting. Gilded with gold leaf, carved at its four corners with rococo motifs — volutes, acanthus, florets, and figurative elements that turn the stretcher into a gilded sculpture. The oval inner molding that frames the composition is characteristic of the best works in this tradition.

80 centimeters wide. 110 high. The perfect size to preside over a living room, occupy the space above a fireplace, or become the visual centerpiece of any wall that deserves it.

No two are alike. No restock.

── WHAT WE LOVE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The gold leaf gilded frame: the corners carved with rococo motifs have a complexity that no mass-produced frame can achieve. Each corner is different. Every detail, sculpted.

→ The oval composition within the rectangle: the inner molding creates a second plane that gives depth to the work and connects it with the great tradition of 17th-century still life.

→ The signed painting: the artist left their signature. It is not a print, it is not a reproduction. It is an oil on canvas painted by hand, with all that implies in terms of light, texture, and time.

── CONSERVATION AND CONDITION ──

The canvas is in good condition. The colors retain their luminosity. The frame is in excellent condition with the gold leaf gilding well preserved.
