There are support pieces of furniture that just hold things. And there are pieces of furniture that capture the gaze of those who enter.

This vintage wooden chest of drawers was built in the mid-20th century with skilled cabinetmaking: dovetail-joined drawers, oak interiors, and a marble top custom-cut to the furniture's size. None of that is improvised. None of that is seen in today's factory-made furniture.

The marble, veined in earthy and pink tones with white streaks, crowns a serene front: two carved rosettes, bronze hanging handles, and high English-style legs that elegantly lift it off the floor. In our workshop, we have hand-sanded the wood to a natural finish, revealing its honey tone.

At 111 cm wide, 50 cm deep, and 80.6 cm high, it is the perfect size for a good entryway under a mirror. It also organizes a bedroom or dresses the short wall of a living room without demanding attention.

No two are alike. There will be no replenishment.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The visible dovetails in the drawers and their oak interiors: the silent signature of a cabinetmaker. It's the first thing we look at in the workshop to know what we're dealing with.

→ The original marble top: each vein is a drawing the quarry made only once. No agglomerate reproduction comes close.

→ The height of its legs: 80.6 cm that allow the floor to breathe and make a piece with marble look light. That's why it works just as well in a small entryway as in a large one.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

We reviewed the entire structure, adjusted the sliding of the two drawers, and reinforced the joints where needed. We hand-sanded the wood to its natural finish, without stains that hide the grain, and cleaned the marble top.

The structure is firm, the drawers open and close smoothly, and the marble sits securely in place. It arrives ready to take its place.
