In a bedroom, there are few decisions. The bed goes where it can, and the wall behind it is inherited as is.

It's the only wall in the house that is seen from inside the bed.

This solid wood mural headboard is a contemporary piece, not an antique. It arrived at the workshop recovered from a house and has been returned to its original state: exposed wood, without paint or stain.

We state this clearly because the rest of the catalog *is* antique.

The top is cut in a wavy profile and rises to a central arch where a radial palmette is carved in relief. The fan's rays were opened one by one with a gouge.

The two side uprights are turned columns topped with a point, with a carved plinth at the base: a four-petal rosette on each side. The central panel is made of vertical tongue-and-groove slats divided into two sections, framed with molding.

The wood was left exposed: knots, eyes, and grains are visible because no one has covered them.

250 cm wide, 160 cm high, and 4 cm thick. The size is paramount: 250 cm more than covers a 180 cm bed and extends beyond the width of the mattress on both sides, so the headboard acts as a wall panel.

It hangs, it does not rest on the bed base. Behind the main bed, or in a guest room where the bed is the only piece of furniture.

WHY THIS PIECE AND NO OTHER

→ The 250 cm. A catalog headboard is the same size as the bed. This one extends beyond it on both sides and turns the entire wall into the bedroom's focal point.

→ The palmette on the top. Carved in relief on the wood of the arch, with the rays opened by gouge. The recessed background retains its own shadow as the light falls.

→ The 4 cm thickness. It is a mural panel: it is anchored to the wall and does not take up floor space or depend on the bed structure. It works with a bed base, a storage bed, or whatever bed is already there.

→ The uncovered wood. No paint, no stain, and no wash. The tone is that of sanding and sealing, and that's why the knots and grains are readable from side to side.

The structure was reviewed, starting with the joint of the turned columns with the frame, which in a piece of this width is the joint that bears the weight when hanging. The panel slats were tightened, and the entire visible surface was hand-sanded, including the cut profile of the top and the rays of the palmette, where mechanical sanding would round the relief.

The finish was done here and we state it clearly: no paint and no stain, just sanding and sealing, to leave the wood exposed and protected. The frame is firm, the slats do not move, and the surface is sealed. It arrives ready to take its place.
