Almost everyone today works from home on a table not chosen for that purpose. A board, some legs, and a spare dining chair.

This double pedestal desk is not a period piece: it is a modern, restored, and finished piece of furniture from our workshop. We mention this before anyone asks, because it is precisely what allows it to measure 160 cm, for both pedestals to be complete, and for it to arrive in this condition. An antique piece of these proportions would cost three times as much and rarely retains all its drawers.

The finish is our own: hand-painted green, then distressed on edges, moldings, and columns, revealing the wood on each edge. Four fluted columns with capitals mark the corners of the two pedestals, and the handles are embossed brass with their keyholes. The top has three dark faux leather panels, framed in the wood itself: it is not leather, and we prefer to state that as well. The back is paneled like the fronts, so the desk can be placed in the middle of the room.

160 cm wide, 81 cm deep, and 79 cm high, with a central opening of 64.5 cm wide by 63.5 cm high. One pedestal has four drawers, and the other has a cabinet with a door and key, and above the opening are three more drawers. This is a real executive desk, not a corner desk: it presides over a library, organizes a home office, or serves as a workbench in a spacious living room.

THREE DEFINING DETAILS

→ The 160 cm with two pedestals. Two complete towers, eight drawers, and a lockable cabinet. This is the size that separates a desk where you can work from a desk where a laptop fits.

→ The distressed green. Hand-painted and then worn on edges, moldings, and columns. This is a color that does not exist in catalog furniture: there, the desk is either black, oak, or white.

→ The paneled back. The panels are repeated on the back with the same molding as the front. It can be placed floating in the center of the room, facing the door, which is how a desk is positioned when the room allows it.

The structure of the two pedestals and the top bridge was inspected, the eight drawers were adjusted on their glides, and the cabinet door with its key was checked. It was hand-sanded before painting.

The green is ours and is declared: hand-painted and distressed on edges and reliefs. The three panels on the top are faux leather, not real leather. The piece rests squarely on its two plinths. It is shipped disassembled, and on-site assembly is included in the price. Ready to be placed where it belongs.
