A dining room is remembered by its table. A hallway, by the first thing you see when you enter. In both cases, there's a piece that dominates the others without raising its voice.

This sideboard was built in the early 20th century from solid oak, following the style of the Spanish Renaissance: profuse carving, wrought iron fittings, and proportions designed to last for generations. It is not a modern reproduction. It is a piece of furniture from its era, made when hand carving was the only way to do it.

Each panel is carved with S-scrolls, cartouches, and shields that no factory mass-produces today. The fittings are original wrought iron, with their rings and keyholes. The wood has been left in its natural, stripped tone, so that the oak can be seen as it truly is: open grain, medullary rays, the texture that only old oak provides.

It measures 207 cm long, so it requires a large wall. Beneath it, a continuous shelf with 32 cm of free height, perfect for baskets, blankets, or ceramics. It works well in a spacious dining room, in a large hallway, or as a low living room cabinet. Wherever you place it, it organizes the entire space around it.

── WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PIECE ──

→ The carving. S-scrolls, cartouches, and shields carved by hand, panel by panel. It's the kind of work that isn't commissioned today because it's not profitable: every centimeter passed through the gouge of someone who knew what they were doing.

→ The stripped oak. More than a hundred years of use have left a depth of grain in the wood that no new finish can imitate. It can be seen and touched: the surface has history, not recent varnish.

→ The open bottom shelf, supported by two bulbous balusters carved with acanthus leaves. It gives visual lightness to a two-meter piece and provides open storage without feeling heavy.

── RESTORED IN OUR WORKSHOP IN NAVALCARNERO, MADRID ──

The piece arrived with the darkening typical of a century of use. In the workshop, it was completely stripped to return the oak to its natural tone, hand-sanded respecting each relief of the carving, and the original iron fittings were inspected one by one.

The entire structure was checked, joints were reinforced where necessary, and the closing of the four doors and the sliding of the three drawers were adjusted. The wood is sound, stable, and free of woodworm. It arrives ready to take its place.
